Marlborough Wellness Center
The Marlborough Wellness Center is where modern and traditional medicine become integrated. The practitioners at the Marlborough Wellness Center honestly believe in the saying, “It takes a whole village to raise a child.” And our “village” at 14A Winthrop Street is working together to alleviate pain and promote good health within our community.
Julie Dalbec MAOM, Lic.Ac, OT/L, a licensed Occupational Therapist and New England School of Acupuncture graduate with dual Masters degrees in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Japanese and Chinese styles of acupuncture, began the Marlborough Wellness Center in August of 2005. With the professional guidance of Ms. Paula Camara and the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Marlborough Wellness Center began to grow in 2007 when the second acupuncturist joined the Center, Diana Fernandes, MAOM, Lic.Ac.
Mr. James Chaffee, the Marlborough Wellness Center’s herbal mentor, donated his complete Chinese herbal pharmacy to us, compelling the Center to search for a larger space. The Marlborough Wellness Center’s new home at 14A Winthrop Street became a reality in March of 2010, thanks to the efforts of the practitioners at the Center as well as Mr. Christopher Flood and Mrs. Lori Favata of the Law Offices of Flood and Favata.
Massage Therapists Judy Shields LMT, Doreen Carlisle LMT, and Hilary Athame LMT joined the Center in 2010 as we expanded our ability to serve and heal those in our community. Marianne Volpe MAOM, Lic.Ac., formerly of The Hudson Natural Health Center, joined our team in 2012. Now staffed with three acupuncturists and three massage therapists, the Marlborough Wellness Center is the place to come for preventative health and healing of injuries/illnesses.
The focus of the Marlborough Wellness Center has always been on Chinese and Japanese styles of acupuncture, Traditional Chinese herbal medicine, therapeutic styles of massage, and philanthropy. Julie has focused her private practice on women’s health issues, men’s musculoskeletal injuries, and pediatric acupuncture. She is one of the few acupuncturists in the Metrowest region that practices a Japanese style non-insertive acupuncture, a successful alternative to pharmaceutical interventions for common pediatric diagnoses. Julie and Diana are well versed in the different herbal decoctions that can be made for many illnesses and disease. Judy, Doreen, and Hilary bring a wide variety of therapeutic massage styles to their clients. From therapeutic deep tissue for chronic injuries to relaxing Swedish style massage, from polarity to reflexology, the Marlborough Wellness Center can address any issues our clients may have.
We do not, however, only practice within the walls of our Center. Our philanthropic efforts include holiday donations to the United Way/Marlborough Food Pantry, giving freely of our time to the public schools, volunteering to help our veterans return independently to the community, and other countless acts of giving.
The practitioners of the Marlborough Wellness Center would like to respectfully thank the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce for the 2012 Small Business of the Year recognition. We will continue to serve our community and fulfill our vision of creating good health and wellness for all who enter the doors of the Marlborough Wellness Center.
