66th Marlborough Labor Day Parade is scheduled for noon September 4, 2017.
For 65 years, the Marlborough Labor Day Parade has served as a vehicle to bring the community together to celebrate Marlborough, its resources, and what makes the City so special. To celebrate the 66th annual parade and remember the wonderful memories this tradition has brought, the City of Marlborough has created the 2017 Marlborough Labor Day Favorite Parade Memory Essay Contest. The Essay Contest invites community members of all ages to share their memories of past parades.
- Write a 350-600 word essay describing your favorite Marlborough Labor Day Parade memory or tradition.
Submit your entry to City Hall, 140 Main Street, Marlborough, MA 01752 (MLDP) by June 1, 2017.
Submissions received after June 1, 2017 will not be considered. Typed essays are preferred.
One winner will be selected from each of the three categories: family, individual and teen, and will receive a gift certificate from a local merchant. The best essay chosen for description and content will be published in a summer edition of the Main Street Journal. Winners will be notified in July 2017.
“Last year was my first year to work with the committee and the community on the parade.” said Program Coordinator Leanne Cordischi. “I enjoyed hearing about the floats that people built in their backyards, the unique entertainment the parade has had in the past, and how families annually prepare to view each parade. The stories helped me understand what a tremendous community tradition this parade is.”
A search for the parade Grand Marshal is also underway. For more information and to submit a nomination, click here.
