SUMMARY:Wilderness Remote First Aid
DESCRIPTION:Will you be hiking\, camping or participating in Scouting activities? Does your job keep you outdoors? Will you be taking your troop to a National High Adventure Base? If so\, the Wilderness First Aid Course can teach you how to respond to an emergency if you are in an area where help may be delayed in reaching you. \n\nThe Wilderness First Aid course includes training on what to do in the case of:\nHead (Brain)\, Neck and Spinal Injuries\nHeat-Related Emergencies\nHypothermia\nAltitude-Related Illnesses\nAllergies and Anaphylaxis\nBurns\nBone and Joint Injuries\nWounds and Wound Infection\n\nImmediate care can help save lives and prevent serious injuries. \nThe course is based on the Boy Scouts of America’s “Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines” and has been reviewed and/or supported by the American Camp Association\, American Canoe Association\, National Recreation and Park Association\, and JCC Association. Wilderness and Remote First Aid also offers enhanced content and topics to meet OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs. \nCourse participants must be at least 14 years of age and possess current certification in Adult and Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). \nPlease come dressed appropriately for the weather\, some of the instruction may take place outdoors. \nThis is not an overnight event. The training will take place from 8;30am to 4:30pm on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am to 3:30pm. You must attend both days to complete the course. \nThe course will take place in White Lodge at Nobscot Scout Reservation. \nImportant Note: WFA Participant manuals and skill sheets will be mailed to the address provided during registration. Participants are expected to review this material prior to the course. \nRegister here
