November 9, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Laura Wright – The Power of Your Story

by MetroWest Regional Coalition for Suicide Prevention & Call2Talk

Join Laura Wright (aka Carly Corinthos) of ABC’s General Hospital as she opens up the conversation on her recent TV storyline involving mental health.  Laura will reflect on her role involving both her husband as well as her son being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.  She will explore how it felt for her to play  a wife, mom, caretaker and loved one of family members who are struggling with an array of emotions, feelings and behaviors they are experiencing with no idea how to manage.    Laura will talk candidly about her onscreen son’s long term hospitalization and his reemersion into the family after his release.  The Power of Your Story will then interact with the audience regarding the power of television and the media to authentically convey real life issues in a realistic and respectful manner.  Laura will bring us into Carly’s world and what it feels like to play this role and the feedback she has received from viewers.

Laura’s talk will be followed by a Question & Answer period.

There will be also be a brief opportunity for photos afterward.
